What this site collects, and why
Last updated 23 October 2026
This is the personal website of Cai Thomas, based in Bath, United Kingdom. I am responsible for any personal data it collects. If you have a question about this page or want to use any of the rights below, email me at the address in the Contact section of the home page.
The short version
- Nothing that tracks you is loaded unless you press Accept all on the cookie notice.
- If you accept, the site uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see how the page is used, and the Meta Pixel to measure and target advertising on Facebook and Instagram.
- If you reject, none of those load, on this visit or later ones.
- You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of the home page.
Only if you accept
These are loaded through Google Tag Manager, which itself only loads after you accept.
| Service | What it collects | Cookies |

| Microsoft Clarity | How you scroll, click and move around the page, kept as session recordings and heatmaps, with the device and browser you use. Provided by Microsoft. | _clck, _clsk, and Microsoft's MUID, CLID |
| Meta Pixel | That you visited this page and what you clicked, so that adverts on Facebook and Instagram can be measured and shown to people who have visited. Provided by Meta. | _fbp, and Meta's own cookies if you are logged in to Facebook or Instagram |
The legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a), and regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). Google Analytics keeps this data for no more than 14 months. Microsoft Clarity keeps recordings for 30 days and heatmap data for up to 13 months. Meta keeps data as described in its own privacy policy.
Always, because the site needs it
- Your choices. Your cookie choice and whether you picked light or dark mode are saved in your own browser (local storage, under
cookieConsentandtheme) so the site remembers them. They are not sent anywhere. - Hosting. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. To deliver the page, GitHub receives your IP address and browser details, and may keep them in its logs for security.
- Fonts. The typefaces come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them, which shows Google your IP address.
The legal basis for these is my legitimate interest in delivering a working website (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Images, logos and everything else are served from the site itself.
Where the data goes
Google, Microsoft, Meta and GitHub may process data in the United States. These transfers rely on the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on other safeguards those companies provide. I don't sell your data or share it with anyone else.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of personal data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to or restrict how it is used, or ask for it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time, which doesn't affect anything done before. If you're unhappy with how your data is handled you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Change your cookie choice
This clears the cookie choice saved in your browser and takes you back to the home page, where the cookie notice will ask again.
